My client was one of MAD Magazine’s featured cartoonist for many years. A mutual friend introduced us. What good luck! The Kitchen and Dining are on the ground floor. The mass of the stone fireplace separates the kitchen and dining room but also connects to the living room on the upper level by way of balcony railings on both sides of the chimney mass. The access to the Living Room level is by way of a discreet stairway hidden under the small balcony hide-a-way.Note the narrow sliding doors at the end of the Living Room, leading to a small balcony with a view looking up the river.
Originally, they insisted that he preferred French doors. I did my best to convince him that narrow metal sliders would be more appropriate. But we ordered the French doors. When they were installed, he conceded that the sliders would be better after all. So the project was put on hold for a month while the sliders were ordered and finally delivered.
